Artwork of Edward Sprafkin
$125.00 + $10.00 S/H
The wood crate this tomato is sitting on is actually the backside of my “shadow box” that I use for creating dramatic lighting, such as in my last post “Standing Guard”. Basically, this is an unfinished wood cube with one side open originally meant for using as a bookshelf. You can often find these unfinished storage cubes in craft supply stores. The inside of the box was painted a dark grey color with acrylic paint. So I can use this one box for high key/high value paintings or low key/darker paintings by using either the interior or exterior of the box.
As for the tomato; that was hand picked from the local grocery store. I used a white nylon fan brush to create the wood grain effect and also to apply the lighter tomato colors and juicy highlights.
Medium: artist quality oil.
Painted on: Ampersand Gessobord.
Dimensions: 7x5 inches.
